Administrative Assistant

Department: Business Office
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

This is a full-time position. Pay ranges from $15.46/hr to $28/hr, based on experience.

SUMMARY

Provides excellent customer service to patients and associates while performing office support functions to the department in which assigned. Duties and responsibilities listed below may not be duplicated in multiple locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure daily customer happiness
  • Answer telephone lines
  • Patient demographic and insurance data entry and verification
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provides administrative support to other departments as requested
  • Prepares and distributes incoming and outgoing mail as well as inter-company mail
  • Attaching of patient electronic medical records supportive documentation
  • Research and rectify missing paperwork needed to complete the billing process
  • Assist with membership administration and mailing
  • Take cash payments and ensure proper documentation and delivery of those payments
  • Maintain cash box
  • Batch and print insurance claims, facility invoices and perform electronic claims submissions
  • Responsible for batching and sending printed and electronic claims to insurance companies for payment
  • Responsible for preparing and mailing facility invoices
  • Prepare the daily deposit
  • Must follow HIPAA guidelines at all times to protect customer PHI
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must pass all Life EMS pre-employment requirements as outlined on the Conditional Offer of Employment.
  • Must have a CPR card.
  • Accurate, basic typing skills and computer operation knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must demonstrate positive, respectful behavior in dealing with people at all levels.
  • Must be interviewed by the Life EMS designee.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
